**Mural is hiring a Principal User Researcher (U.
S.
Remote) to establish and lead the UX Research practice.
** As the first research leader, this individual contributor role focuses on driving foundational, mixed-methods research that shapes long-term product strategy and innovation for distributed collaboration.

**Key Responsibilities:** * **Strategic Research (Player):** Lead large-scale qualitative and quantitative studies to uncover deep insights into team collaboration behaviors, translating ambiguity into actionable frameworks (archetypes, journey maps) that influence executive decision-making.
* **Practice Building (Coach):** Mentor designers and product partners to scale research capabilities, establish rigorous methodologies, and champion a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
* **Cross-Functional Leadership (Hybrid):** Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Strategy to prioritize high-impact research bets, integrate diverse data signals, and facilitate workshops that align the organization on the future of collaboration.

**Ideal Candidate:** 10+ years of UXR expertise with a proven track record of influencing product vision through foundational research.
Must possess deep mixed-methods proficiency, strong systems thinking, and the ability to scale research practices in a fast-growing environment.
